First Alumni Coed Nite a Success!

 

Team 1:  How did all the Leaf fans end up on one team?

The first ever Alumni Coed Nite was a great success with no teams shut out of championships and only a few no-shows.  Thanks to Janis (Headrick) Gartshore for suggesting this event; it allowed a number of alumni to attend who couldn't during the Alumni Day on Friday. Current CASS students were pretty impressed by the competitiveness of Alumni and their strategies.  Congrats to Team 2 who were the big winners with 6 championships.  Results are posted below and photos are in the album on the sidebar.

Alumni Day 2011

It's here again!  Looking forward to seeing all of the old CASS alumni!  Here is the schedule for tomorrow.

10:00 - 11:00 - CASS Christmas Concert

10:30 - 11:00 - CASS Cup / CASS Hockey / CASS Siggy Stick meet and greet

11:00 - 12:00 - Alumni CASS Cup Game

12:00 - 1:30 - Women's Alumni Volleyball Game

1:30 - 3:00 - Men's Alumni Basketball Game

Alumni Hockey / CASS Cup / Signature Stick!!

For Alumni day this year, we are trying out a new event....the Alumni CASS Cup / Signature Stick / Hockey game.

How does it work??? Easy.  If you're a CASS Hockey / CASS Cup / Signature Stick alumni, just show at 10:30 on Alumni Day ( December 23 ) to be put on a team.  Then we play from 11:00 until 12:00!

How are we making teams?  Not sure yet.  We might throw sticks, we might do a signature stick draft, we might just play Echo Bay/St. Joe/Laird against Bruce Mines/Desbarats/Thessalon.

What do you need? Bring a stick (although we'll have extra), bring some eye protection (although we'll have extra), and if you're a goalie....bring your own pads.

Alumni Co-Ed Night - 2011

Sign ups are coming in!!!  Please check to see if your name is on the list.....you can find the link to the co-ed night page on the right under 'Pages'.  We have enough people to make sure we have a blast, and we can add more people at any time!!!  Let everyone know that they can still sign up, and if they have to...they can still just show up that night at the last minute...we'll make it work.

Come Cheer on our Medal Bearers!

We have 5 students, 1 staff, and a CASS Grad that are part of the 25th Anniversary Medal Relay celebrating Rick Hansen's Man in Motion tour.  Caray and Brielle Ford will be medal bearers in Thessalon on Sunday, Dec. 18 starting at the Community Hall at 11:30am;  Mrs. Hunt-Ford will be Bruce Mines from the 50km sign to the flashing lights at the 638, and will handoff to Hailey Bomhof (Gr. 12 student from St. Joe), who will in turn hand off to Lexie Lajambe (Gr. 12 student from Bruce Mines) before the relay heads to Echo Bay.  In Echo Bay, Quinn Currie (Gr. 9 student) and Mrs.Tricia (Cain) Callahan, elementary school teacher at Johnson-Tarbutt and CASS Grad from St. Joe, will be medal bearers before the relay heads to the Sault for the End of Day Celebration at the John Rhodes Centre.

These medal bearers have all been selected as "difference makers" in their communities and at school. Come support them together at the community nearest you to help celebrate all that Rick Hansen has achieved over the past 25 years to help increase awareness about spinal cord injuries and removing barriers for accessibility, and to commit to making the world a better place for everyone.

CASS Alumni Co-Ed Night

This year, we will be trying out a new event....on Thursday, December 22nd, from 6pm until 9pm, CASS will be hosting an Alumni Co-ed night.  Remember the old days when you had to get to school and sign up for Co-ed night before 8:30 or you were on the waiting list?  Well, let's try and relive some of those days with classic events such as Bladderball, 500 Bid, Spoons and Wollip.

All you need to do to sign up is: be a CASS alumni, talk a CASS alumni into being your partner, or say "Sign me up, but I need a partner".

World Record StackUp 2011!

Down from 98 participants last year, we had 72 students take part once again in World StackUP day in an attempt to help set a new Guinness World Record for the most people sport stacking for 30 min. on one day.  This is the 3rd year that CASS has participated and each year a new record has been set. Despite fewer stackers this year, we still managed to stack 1.8 million cups over the lunch breaks! There were 12 sets of 12 cups to stack and participants got house points for every round they completed.  Brielle Ford (a Panther!) completed the most rounds in 30 min. with 15.  We should here within a week whether the world record was broken. Pictured below is our "coolest stacker"!
